Silver Cross Jet Double Review | Honest Thoughts from a Mom

Silver Cross Jet Double Review

If you’re on the hunt for the perfect double stroller — one that’s lightweight, convenient, easy to use in tight spaces, great for Disney parks, and doesn’t feel like you’re solving a Rubik’s Cube when you fold it — the Silver Cross Jet Double might just be your ideal match.

I was intrigued after hearing the Jet Double call itself the lightest side-by-side double stroller on the market (under 20 lbs). As a mom with three kids under four, I know firsthand the difference that a lightweight stroller can make.

At the same time, the slimline design shouldn’t compromise safety or quality.

With the Jet Double, you get a premium option at a fair price compared to similar double strollers. Its innovative design makes it spacious yet compact enough to fit through standard-sized doorways. It’s easy to load into the trunk of your car and is great for family trips or even navigating to the gate of a plane. But there’s even more to consider before you buy.

This honest Silver Cross Jet Double review covers the great and not-so-great features to help you make the right choice for you and your family.

Silver Cross Jet Double Quick Summary:

If you don’t have time to read this entire post, here’s what you need to know before purchasing:

  • At just 19.7 lbs, this lightweight stroller is super easy to maneuver.
  • Premium feel with comfortable padded seats and quality canopies made of recycled materials.
  • Compatible with multiple car seat brands that can be easily attached to the slightly larger seat.
  • When a car seat adapter is attached, the entire bumper bar (including the cup holder) must be removed, which is a small bummer.
  • When folded, the stroller stands on its own, and it’s very lightweight, making it easy to load into your car.
  • It handles sidewalks and pavement well, but it does not do well on gravel and grassy surfaces.

The Jet Double from Top to Bottom

If you’ve seen my YouTube videos, you know I’m thorough and cover all the details that matter most to parents. In this section, I’ll walk you through the Jet Double from top to bottom, highlighting key features that could help you decide if this is the right stroller for your needs.

The Handlebar

As a mom who’s 5’5″, I appreciate the handlebar height and where it’s positioned on the stroller. It works great for my 6′ husband, too, and neither of us has had any issues with kicking the wheels or brake. While the handlebar isn’t adjustable, it’s at a comfortable height.

Currently, they don’t sell an official cup holder or parent organizer, so that’s something to keep in mind. However, I have found this universal one does work.

The Canopy

The canopies are very premium and made of high-quality materials. Overall, I’ve been impressed with the quality of the Silver Cross Jet Double. It’s a side-by-side stroller that feels luxurious. The fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles, and the leather accents are vegan, so it’s also a sustainable design.

The peek-a-boo windows are at the back of the seat and are easy to open. I especially love that they have magnets that hold them open and closed. It’s easy for me to see my baby in the reclined positions. However, seeing my baby in the sitting position requires me to step back a bit. I’m not too worried about my toddler, but keep that in mind for babies. The peek-a-boo windows also add airflow, helping keep your kiddos cool on hot days.

The canopies can be tucked in so your little ones can see out but still stay relatively shaded. On that note, the Jet Double is made from UPF50+ fabric.

While they’re not the biggest canopies, I think they’re sufficient. The only time I’ve had an issue was when the sun shone in my baby’s eyes when she was reclined. This isn’t a problem when she’s seated in a more upright position. It’s also worth noting that the canopies do slightly touch my hands when fully retracted, which some people might find a little annoying. It’s nothing compared to some of the other strollers on the market…

Overall, I’ve been pleased with the canopies, and I love that they are independently adjustable on each side.

The Seat

Not only is this a great-looking double stroller, but the Silver Cross Jet Double also has a premium feel. The seats are very comfortable and padded, and they can each accommodate up to 50 pounds. As far as side-by-side travel strollers go, it’s the most plush option I’ve seen.

The straps are not no-rethread, which is surprisingly common for side-by-side double strollers. This means that you’ll have to manually adjust each strap as your child grows or as you switch who’s sitting in the seat. However, they were still easy to set. As far as the magnetic buckles go, I’ve been happy with them. It took me a little while to get used to using them, but they’re easy enough to understand once you get the hang of it.

Regarding seat recline, both recline independently, and the mechanism to pull them down is simple. It’s not a full flat recline, but I find it pretty good.

One of the seats is an inch wider than the other, but it’s hardly noticeable. I didn’t notice until I used it with a car seat, which is why the seat is larger in the first place.

The Bumper Bar

The bumper bar is straightforward to use. What I find unique about this double stroller is the ability to open the bumper bars independently to let one child out at a time. Also, Silver Cross has a snack tray that I absolutely love. It pops onto the bumper bar and comes with a cup and a little snack dish that you can throw into the dishwasher. Bonus: You can close the stroller with it, and it also works on the Jet 5. The snack tray is a big selling point for this stroller.

The Footrest

The Jet Double has independently adjustable footrests on both sides. They’re easy to move up and down, and they stay secure no matter what position they’re in. When positioned upwards, I love how easy it is to fit stuff into the spacious basket below. It also has great lower footrests for older toddlers.

The Brake

The Silver Cross Jet Double has what is quickly becoming one of my favorite stroller brake styles. It’s a sturdy, flip-flop-friendly brake that’s easy to use.

The Basket and Storage

I can easily slide in my diaper bag and other baby essentials without having to jam it in there. Moms, we know how heavy those diaper bags can get, which is why it’s awesome that the Jet Double can hold up to 22 pounds in the basket. You can access the basket from the front and the back, but I find it better to access it from the front, given the adjustable footrests.

Silver Cross Jet Double Infant and Car Seat Compatibility

If you take anything away from this Silver Cross Jet Double review, let it be that this premium side-by-side stroller is super car seat-friendly. I love that I can have my baby up close when pushing the stroller while also having my toddler comfortable in the other seat. The car seat adapter for the Jet 5 works on the Jet Double, which is a nice touch.

It’s pretty intuitive to use. You pop out the bumper bar and can easily click on your car seat. Keep in mind that since you have to take the entire bumper bar off to attach the car seat, you unfortunately can’t use the snack tray at the same time. That means your kiddo in the other seat won’t have an easy place to store their cups/snacks. Also, you can’t do two car seats at once, so if you’re a parent of twins, this probably isn’t your best option.

The car seat adapter is versatile, and has many compatible infant car seats. The Jet Double works with Maxi-Cosi, Nuna, Clek, and Cybex.

Jet Double Folding, Unfolding, and Ease of Use

Folding the Jet Double requires two hands, and it did take me a minute to learn how to do it. But once you get it, you get it. It takes two simple steps: there are triggers on the side that you pull and then push the stroller in. Once you’ve done that, the stroller collapses and even stands on its own!

If you drive a car with little to no trunk space (I get it!), the Jet Double is a great solution. Once collapsed, you can load it into your trunk, and thanks to its compact fold, it doesn’t take up a lot of space. As I mentioned, you can even fold it with the snack trays and car seat adapter. This is especially nice during the newborn stage. Game-changer!

Maneuverability & Performance of the Silver Cross Jet Double

Moving on to the push, my husband commented on how small the wheels looked when I took the stroller out of the box. But size isn’t everything!

I was very impressed with the stroller on pavers, sidewalks, and blacktop as well, it made for a smooth ride. However, I tried the Jet Double on gravel, and it would barely move. It does a little bit better on grass, but it’s clear that sidewalks and pavement are the ideal environments for this side-by-side stroller.

So if you need something with all-terrain capability, this is not the stroller for you. But that goes for almost all lightweight side-by-side strollers.

Other Strollers You May Be Considering

Chances are if you are looking at the Jet Double, you’re also considering these strollers. Here’s are a few differences to consider:

Zoe Twin V2

  • The Zoe Twin V2 is more affordable at $529 and comes with a few more accessories.
  • The Zoe Twin V2 does not stand when folded, while the Jet Double does.
  • The Zoe Twin works with more car seats including Graco and Chicco.
  • The Jet Double is made with more premium materials.
  • The Zoe Twin V2 has all-terrain tires you can purchase to better handle dirt roads.
  • Check out my full review of the Zoe Twin V2 on YouTube.

Nuna TRVL DUBL

  • The Nuna TRVL DUBL has bigger wheels which means it can handle gravel roads better. On smooth terrain, the push on both strollers is similar.
  • The width of the two seats are noticeably different on Nuna, while you barely see a difference on the Jet Double.
  • Nuna DUBL only works with the PIPA car seat.
  • Both are made with premium materials, but the Nuna is $250 more…

Valco Duo Trend

  • The Valco Duo Trend is better for twins because it can do two bassinets, two car seats, and two seats.
  • You can get air filled tires for the Valco which gives it a smoother push on a variety of different terrains.
  • The Jet double is lighter, more premium feeling, and has a better basket.

Who’s the Silver Cross Jet Double Best For?

The Jet Double is amazing for families who are looking for a lightweight, compact double travel stroller that fits through standard-size doorways, is Disney-approved, and easily slides in the trunk of your car. The ability to have a car seat on one side and an older child on the other makes it great for families with two kids under two or two kids close in age. It also will grow really nicely with your family since the bumper bar is removable on both sides.

For families who have twins, this may not be the best option for you since you cannot do two car seats at once. Also, if you need a side-by-side stroller that’s all-terrain, this probably isn’t the perfect double stroller for you.

Ready to invest in a double stroller with a premium feel and a more accessible price point? I highly recommend the Silver Cross Jet Double!
