Price and What’s Included
The Bombi Twin is one of the best higher-end, affordable strollers on the market. It retails for $500, but is currently marked down to $450, and if you use code STROLLERMOM20, you get an additional $20 off. This price includes the stroller, bumper bar, a parent cup-holder, and a travel bag.
The Handlebar
The handlebar has premium leatherette detailing, and is 41” high, but it is not adjustable. I’m 5’5” and my husband is 6’0″, and neither of us had any issues with kicking the stroller when we walked, so I think this will be a good option for tall parents, but not bad for shorter parents either.
The Canopy
There are independent canopies for each seat, each with a zip-out extension that gives really good coverage, coming down almost to the bumper bar. When I first unboxed my stroller, I noticed sometimes the canopy would kind of pop up when walking, but as the material has stretched, it no longer does this.
There are also peekaboo windows with magnetic closures. Even though they don’t have anything to keep them open, if you stretch the material a little, they do stay open when you’re walking.
The clearance on the canopy is also great. My very tall 5-year-old can sit comfortably in the seat and still has plenty of headspace under the canopy.
When the canopy is pulled all the way back, it does rest on your hands, which is kind of annoying, but you can push it forward just a bit, and it will stay pretty much off your hands.
The Seat, Buckles, Bumper Bar, and Footrest
The seatback is a pretty average height at 18.5”, but again, the canopy clearance is really great, and the seats hold 55lbs each, making this a good option for parents of older kids. The seat also has a decently upright position. The seatback is adjustable with just one hand, and the recline is truly impressive. One thing I would I said I would change in my video is that there’s no ventilation for the seat, and the peekaboo window doesn’t really allow for airflow either, but Bombi heard the feedback and has added mesh on the back of all new strollers moving forward. I love it when a company takes feedback so quickly. I still recommend a stroller fan (some of my favs) on hot days.
The buckles are magnetic and very easy to use, and the harness is no-rethread, so switching between kids of different sizes is no problem. The straps are incredibly easy to tighten and loosen to get the perfect fit. The crotch buckle is also adjustable for a smaller baby, but the padded cover does not stay on, although my kids don’t seem to mind.
The bumper bar opens super easily from either side, and the snack tray, which has to be purchased separately, snaps onto the bar. Some people do not like the single bumper bar, but I love it! It makes the fold more compact. If you are worried about your toddlers hitting each other, trust me, they can do that even with the ones that have a connection point down the middle. One thing to note is that if you’re using the car seat adapter, you have to take the bumper bar off, which also means you can’t use the snack tray. 🙁
The calf support is padded and adjustable, either down or straight out. There’s not a true lower foot rest, but there’s a bar at the front of the storage basket, so my older girls rest their feet on that, which has been fine.
The Basket, Brake, and Storage
The under-seat storage basket is a good size with decent accessibility. It holds up to 20 lbs, which is enough for an average-sized diaper bag. There are also storage pockets on the back of the seats for smaller items like a phone.
Both seats have a small, mesh storage pocket on the side, but it is too small to store much, especially with older kids sitting in the seats. It could hold a small snack or toy, though.
I have no complaints about the brakes; they’re in the perfect spot on the side, so I don’t kick them when walking, and they’re super easy to engage and disengage, even with flip-flops.
Bombi Bebee Twin Infant and Car Seat Compatibility
The newborn cocoon is one of the biggest selling points for this stroller. The fact that both seats can accommodate a baby from birth makes this ideal for twins. To set it up, the seat needs to be reclined all the way, which is truly nearly flat, then each seat has a fabric panel that tucks into a pocket behind the leg rest. Once unfolded, you just pull it over the leg rest and snap it into place, so it makes a sort of pocket for your baby’s legs. By the way, something like this is required in order to be considered “newborn compatible” in the United States. It does make it a little harder to access your baby, and the snaps are kind of tedious to do, but it’s still nice to have as an option. I love when strollers can accommodate a small baby without an infant car seat!
With a car seat adapter, the Bombi Twin works with 15 different car seats (including UPPAbaby!), which are listed under the specifications section below. The adapter is really just a strap that holds your car seat in place on the toddler seat (still very secure), and while I prefer the click-on adapter types, I do think it’s nice for quick errands, and then of course, you have the newborn cocoon for longer outings. Because it is a strap, it is actually a very universal adapter and will work with most any infant car seat. I will list the ones that have officially been tested below. There is also an adapter for twin parents to use two Nuna infant carseats at the same time; unfortunately, Nuna Pipa is the only car seat that you can use in tandem at this time.
Bombi Bebee Twin Folding, Unfolding, and Ease of Use
Another selling point for this stroller is its fold. It’s a super easy one-hand fold with a button on the handlebar (just like the Nuna TRVL DUBL, but half the price). The stroller is also pretty compact when folded and decently light for a double stroller, so loading it into a trunk is no problem. (It is not overhead bin compatible, but no double strollers are.) Unfolding the stroller is the same mechanism as folding and can also be done one-handed.
Bombi Bebee Twin Maneuverability and Performance
Overall, I was super impressed with the Bombi Twin’s push. It handled grass and packed gravel really easily, even with my older girls on board. There is the option of purchasing their “big wheels set,” but I found it added a lot of weight and bulk to the stroller without much difference in the push, since it doesn’t add any suspension.
