It is back-to-school time, and I want to know: How is my baby already starting kindergarten? In one sense, it has felt slow, and in another, it has flown by. I am no expert when it comes to preparing for going back to school, but I wanted to share the fun things I found this year!

Backpacks and Lunch Bags
This year, we got all the girls’ backpacks from Calpack’s new kid collection (use code Emily10 + link to save). I love that each bag can be customized with an adorable plush charm, and the girls had a blast picking out their favorites. We got our lunch boxes from Target.

First-Day-of-School Sign
I am a little late to the party on this, but I really wanted a back-to-school sign to document each school year with my girls, and I was not impressed with the options at Target and Walmart. I love that you can swap out the name plate on this sign, so it can be used with all three of my girls. The owner of this Etsy shop has been very responsive, and I can’t wait to use it for years to come!
Back to School Name Labels
A new school year means everything needs a label. I recently heard the founder of Mabel’s Labels speak at an event and loved her story.
The site is overflowing with design choices, and right now, they’re offering 25% off their Back‑to‑School label packs.
My daughter really wanted butterflies, and I really wanted a solid color for her (I have some beige mom tendencies).
Water Bottles & School Supplies
Water bottles and school supply needs change every year as your kids grow, but here are some of my favorites on Amazon.
Back-to-School Clothes
I have the best memories of back-to-school shopping growing up. Even though my siblings and I were homeschooled, my mom always made it very special. She even let us all get school uniforms one year, per our request. Here are some of my favorite places to find cute, quality kid clothes and uniforms (some are affiliate and some are not)!
- Carters
- Cat & Jack at Target
- Colored Organics
- Gap
- Hannah Anderson
- H & M
- Jamie Kay
- Old Navy
- Quincy Mae
- Rylee & Cru
I also like to get my kids new shoes from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which happens every year right before the school year! I always update this post with my favorite finds each year!
