The Nuna TRIV Next offers the best of both worlds in a single stroller and is one of my favorites for first time parents. It’s compact and easy to maneuver like a travel stroller, but it also provides the comfort, storage, and other features of a full-sized model.
After thorough testing, I’m excited to share my Nuna TRIV Next review and why I wish I had this stroller, or one like it, as a first-time mom.

Price and What’s Included with the Nuna TRIV Next
I would not consider it a budget-friendly option, but you get what you pay for. Nuna makes really high-quality products, and this is no exception. It retails for $700, and you get the stroller, a bumper bar, the seat, and a ring-style car seat adapter (which is fantastic) that works with Nuna PIPA infant car seats. You can also buy it as a travel system with the Nuna Pipa URBN car seat (this is the set I have). The Nuna PIPA URBN car seat is a baseless car seat with a built in latch system, great for families who are always in different cars or taxis.

In this section, I’ll walk you through the Nuna Triv Next from top to bottom, highlighting key features that could help you decide if this is the right stroller for your needs. The Handlebar
I love the handlebar, and so will taller parents. It is an extendable telescopic handlebar, meaning it adjusts outwards rather than rotating. You can adjust it to your height to enjoy your strolls without killing your back. The luxe leatherette detailing is quintessential Nuna: beautiful and functional. A little plastic piece on the handlebar protects your leatherette detailing from getting scratched up when the stroller is folded.
The Canopy
The canopy is short and not the most practical when it’s not extended. However, the extendable canopy coverage is excellent. It also has nice mesh paneling for added airflow when extended. And if you need more coverage, there is a tucked-in panel that you can untuck and use on very sunny days. It also provides extra protection with a UPF 50+ and water-repellent canopy.
The peekaboo window is a nice touch, though it would be even better if the flap could be secured with magnets so that it stays open on its own. This seems to be the same across all of Nuna’s Strollers.
The Seat
The seat of the Nuna TRIV Next can hold up to 50 pounds in the seat and grows well with your child. It has three different positions, ranging from upright to nearly flat. Two things to note:
1) The seat has a nice upright position, and if you have a toddler, you know how important that is. However, taller toddlers 2 and 1/2 years+ may find the canopy touching their heads as they near the top of the seat. While you can technically remove the canopy for extra headroom, using a stroller without a canopy is not a favorite for some parents.
2) Since it doesn’t lie entirely flat, I recommend using a TRIV bassinet or infant car seat (both sold separately) until your baby is around six months old. During a trip with my four-month-old, I found the seat was a bit too upright for her.
The Nuna TRIV’s reversible seat is one of its biggest selling points over a standard lightweight stroller. The seat can face either towards or away from you, which is great for little ones (you also can fold the stroller with the seat in both positions!).
The no-rethread harness is easily adjustable and features one of my favorite magnetic buckles on any baby product.
Some parents have commented that the seat sits lower than other full-size strollers. While this is true, I did not find it to be an issue. It is very nice when dining at restaurants because your baby is closer to you when sitting, and after reviewing the Doona, I found I preferred the TRIV’s height.
It also features an all season seat. The breathable mesh panel on the backrest provides ventilation for warmer days, while the seat liner keeps your little one warm and snug when the temperature drops. This is one of my favorite features of the TRIV!
The Bumper Bar
The bumper bar is included with the stroller’s purchase and is easy to open and close to let your child in and out.
The Footrest
The adjustable footrest has leatherette detailing, making it really easy to clean after your child’s shoes make it dirty. Nuna upgraded this stroller’s previous version by adding a lower footrest for taller toddlers (something I did not like about the original TRIV).
The Brake
The one-tap brake is easy to engage and very flip-flop-friendly. If there is one thing on the stroller I’d be nervous about breaking (no pun intended), it would be the brake due to its wire cable design.
The Basket and Storage
One of my biggest qualms with this stroller is that it has such a spacious storage basket but claims it can only hold 10 pounds in the basket. That is worse than a lot of the lightweight travel strollers. There is a nice zip-up pocket in the back of the seat for storing your phone and keys.
Nuna TRIV Next Infant and Car Seat Compatibility
Regarding infant compatibility, you have two primary options with the TRIV: a car seat or a bassinet.
The Nuna TRIV stroller converts into a travel stroller with any Nuna PIPA car seat, which snaps into the ring-shaped adapter with zero effort. If you live a car to city lifestyle you are going to LOVE this feature on the TRIV Next.
If you frequently switch between cars or use rideshares, the baseless Nuna PIPA URBN car seat is a total lifesaver. I’ve been using this car seat with my third, and I love it! One downside of the PIPA URBN is that it can only hold up to 22 pounds in the seat, so your baby will age out a lot faster than most other infant car seats. You can only buy the PIPA URBN as a travel system with the TRIV Next or other Nuna strollers, which costs $1,100 for the whole setup.
If you own a car seat from a different brand, the Nuna TRIV Next is probably not for you.
You can also buy a Nuna bassinet as another option. The Nuna bassinet is on the smaller side, so it doesn’t have the best longevity.
Nuna TRIV Next Folding, Unfolding, and Ease of Use
Nuna knows how to make viral stroller folds, and the TRIV is no exception. It is a smooth one-handed fold, especially with the ring car seat adapter. Check out my viral reel of it HERE.
The stroller can fold with the seat facing either direction. Tip the seat forward, give the carry strap a quick tug, and that’s it! The stroller collapses into a compact, self-standing package and unfolds just as effortlessly. One minor drawback is that because it doesn’t latch, I found it would sometimes open as I was trying to put it in my trunk, but you get used to what you have.
Maneuverability & Performance of the Nuna TRIV
It is great for a city or trunk-to-store suburban lifestyle.
The wider wheel base, larger rear tires, and wheel suspension make it sturdy enough to tackle bumpy sidewalks and cobblestones with ease. The foam-filled wheels mean you’ll never have to worry about flats. If you are looking for an all-terrain option, this is not your stroller. While it’s better than a typical lightweight travel stroller, it was not made to be used on bumpy terrain all the time.
One other thing I want to share about my stroller: The frame has taken some scratches. Now, I have thrown it around a bit (easy to do since it is so light), and I always have a few strollers in my trunk that it has bumped up against, but I wanted to call this out. It hasn’t impacted the stroller’s functionality.
