Finding the best high chair can feel very overwhelming. Next to a stroller, car seat, and crib, it is probably one of the most important pieces of baby gear you will buy.

What to Look for When Buying a High Chair

It’s challenging to determine what’s truly important when purchasing a high chair, especially since there’s a lot of marketing and countless opinions from other parents, all claiming their high chair is the best. Can we be honest with ourselves… Do we really need our high chair to turn into a kids’ table?

As a mom of three, I have found that these are the most important things to consider when looking for a high chair.

  1. Easy to Clean: Because you will hate one that is not!
  2. Ergonomic Position: Adjustable footrest and ergonomic seating
  3. Safety: 5-point harness and no recalls, to name a few!
  4. Ease of Use: Do you need tools to adjust it? How many extra parts do you have to keep track of?
  5. Lifestyle: Small House, portable, use from birth, tall or standard table, etc.

Best Overall High Chair – Mockingbird High Chair

The Mockingbird High Chair truly is the best overall high chair on the market (and I am not paid to say this!). It is so easy to clean, functional for parent and baby, and they just added new colors, which was the one thing that was missing for me when I made my full review of this high chair.

The Mockingbird High Chair is even better than the Stokke Tripp Trapp for the baby stage. I love how close the tray comes to the baby, the buckle holders, how easy it is to clean, the easy adjustments, and more.

Pros:

  • Easy to clean
  • Small footprint
  • Magnetic buckles and buckle holders
  • Two trays for easy cleaning

Cons:

  • No newborn set
  • Just okay as a toddler chair

Best Luxury High Chair – Stokke Tripp Trapp

In the video, I had the Bugaboo Giraffe as the best luxury high chair, but recently, it was removed from the market in the US and recalled in other countries. As a result, I have moved up the beloved Stokke Tripp Trapp on this list. Honestly, I feel like the Bugaboo Giraffe is a little better in the baby stage and easier to adjust, but the Stokke more closely resembles a real chair for the childhood stage.

This high chair has truly stood the test of time and is my favorite of all the high chairs on this list for the toddler years. I actually own two of them for my older girls. However, it is not my favorite for the baby stage.

The straps and tray are hard to clean. The buckle was recently improved, but it is very difficult to use on older versions. The adjustments are archaic and require tools and a lot of muscle, and quite frankly, they need an update. That said, this high chair does give a good ergonomic position for the baby, has a newborn set, and can be used for years beyond the baby years. I’ve even heard of some people passing this down through generations of their families!

Order the Stokke Tripp Trapp on Nordstrom, Amazon, or Stokke.

Price: $219-$400+, depending on color, if you want the baby set, tray, etc.
Age: 0 months + 300 lbs
Adjustable Footrest: Yes
Add-ons: Newborn Set, Baby Set, cushions, and more!

Pros:

  • Amazing for toddlers
  • Lots of Design options to match any home
  • Use from birth with the newborn set

Cons:

  • Hard to adjust
  • Not the easiest to clean
  • Not portable

Best Folding High Chair – Inglesina My Time

The My Time high chair by Inglesina has been one of my picks for families who want something that looks beautiful in their home but can fold and store between meals.

It fully reclines, so you can use it from day one, even while bottle-feeding a newborn. It has multiple height positions, a super plush seat that’s easy to wipe down, and a second tray that pops off with one hand and is easy to wash.

Price: $299 Save 20% with link and code STROLLERMOM15

  • I wish it had wheels
  • Large when not folded
  • Straps are hard to clean

Best Budget & Folding High Chair – Graco Slim Snacker

I am giving you two options on folding high chairs because it is hard to beat the price point of the Graco Slim Snacker and how easy it is to fold. I even included this in my best budget baby gear video!

I used this at a friend’s cabin, and while it is not the easiest to clean, it is incredibly easy to fold and store. I also really like the storage basket underneath. The recline is nice for bottle feedings or having baby at the table during meals starting at around 3 months.

Price: $99
Age: 3-36 months
Adjustable Footrest: No
Add-ons: None

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Foldable
  • Storage

Cons:

  • Kind of hard to clean
  • The footrest is not adjustable

Best Budget High Chair – Graco Duo Diner

The Graco DuoDiner was my first high chair, and you can even check out a comparison I made to the Stokke Tripp Trapp. If you want more features than the Graco Slim Snacker without spending a ton more, the Graco DuoDiner is a nice balance! You get two relatively easy-to-clean trays, it is easy to move around your house, and you can use it starting at 3 months. I really liked that we could feed my second baby a bottle in the high chair at the table, which you cannot do with the wood-style high chairs.

Buy the Graco DuoDiner on Amazon or Target.

Price: $161
Age: 3 Months – 60 lbs
Adjustable Footrest: Yes
Add Ons: None

Pros:

  • Heigh adjustable for table or counter height
  • Easy to Move
  • Grows with your child + turn into a booster

Cons:

  • Big
  • Not super easy to clean

Best Travel High Chair – Inglesina Fast Table Chair

If you travel a lot or are tight on space, the Inglesina Fast Table Chair is a total game-changer. I’ve taken this thing to restaurants, grandma’s house, even on vacation, and this is even my second one because I left my first at Costco…

It clamps securely onto most tables in minutes (it does take a bit of time to get it just right), folds flat for travel, stores in the attached storage bag, and gives your baby a proper seat at the table. Plus, the fabric wipes down surprisingly well.

Order on Amazon or Target

Price: $79
Age: 6 months – 37 lbs
Adjustable Footrest: No
Add-ons: Tray

Pros:

  • Compact
  • Portable
  • Non-toxic

Cons:

  • Takes a while to secure
  • The tray is not included
  • No footrest

What about the MomCozy Dinerpal High Chair?

I did not learn about the Momcozy Dinerpal high chair until after this video was released, but I quickly started receiving a lot of questions about it. Then Momcozy asked to send me one to try out.

I love its quality, but it is heavy. While it is nice that it can turn into a learning tower, it is not super practical. Overall, I love how easy it is to adjust the footrest and how easy the tray is to clean, but I did find the straps and seat harder to clean, and I tend to recommend the Mockingbird instead. I really liked it as a toddler chair and think it could be a good option for some families.

Age: 6 months to 308 lbs

  • Grows with baby
  • Sturdy & has a nice aesthetic
  • Easy adjustable footrest

Cons:

  • Heavy
  • Just okay to clean
  • Not practical as a learning tower

5 High Chairs I don’t love

Ikea Antilope

While very affordable, it requires accessories to make it ergonomic, and the tray is not easy to remove. Many of my friends have this high chair, and the added accessories, like the footrest, fall off regularly with use.

Lalo High Chair

The tray is far from the baby and lacks an adjustable footrest.

Ergobaby Evolve

Large Footprint and is not user-friendly.

Stokke Clikk

Big footprint and not a lot of adjustability.

Baby Trend Sit Right

Poor quality and hard to clean.

Final Thoughts

There are numerous high chairs to choose from, making the selection process so overwhelming. Some, like the Uppababy Ciro, Skip Hop, and Hauck Alpha+ Chair, I like, but they just did not make my top or bottom list. If you have any questions about any high chairs, please follow and DM me on Instagram. I hope this post helped you find the best high chair for your family!
